Bonnie Chan, a former Miss Hong Kong second runner-up, has created a wellness platform dedicated to promoting a holistic healthy lifestyle that helps us stay well during these trying times.
Chan – who has completed courses on mindfulness and meditation in Altea, Spain as well as one for yoga instructors in the Balinese village of Ubud – began sharing healthy lifestyle tips on her social-media platforms. She received so much positive feedback from friends that she decided to create MindBonnieSoul, a website that stresses the importance of wellness and encourages self-awareness and understanding as a means of ensuring lasting health.
The platform has five areas of focus: yoga, fitness, mindfulness, nutrition and beauty. With the overarching goal of empowering others to enrich their lives, it features videos which guide viewers towards a healthier lifestyle, by 25 contributors that include model, yoga and meditation teacher Natalie Soderstorm, fitness fanatic Antonia Da Cruz, former top tennis player Venise Chan, as well as model and boxing instructor Angie Ng. We asked Chan to tell us about her site.
Here Bonnie shows us how to do a simple breathing exercise at home to stimulate circulation and calm your mind. Video taken at Bizhouse.
My family put a great deal of importance on eating healthily, exercise and sports, and most importantly, living a happy life. It’s always been part of my lifestyle.
I never thought that I’d move into the wellness industry. It started off with me posting some fitness and yoga photos and videos online – which I was originally reluctant to, because I thought people wouldn’t be interested in them. However, I got good feedback from friends. From there I started exercising with my friends. They suggested I get my licence and then I’ll be able to teach them – which I thought was a great idea! I’ve always wanted to live in Bali and I wanted a nice detox, so I went there for a little under a month to join an intense yoga teacher-training course.
The videos on MindBonnieSoul are extremely detailed and tailored to specific needs. They range from yoga classes focusing on meditation, and classes dedicated to people who’ve been working from home so they can learn how to reset, to classes on posture, alignment and detox and digestion. For those looking for something more upbeat and sweat-inducing, we also offer a variety of muscle-burning classes, such as core workouts, ab-burn challenges, high-intensity interval training, cardiovascular exercises and muscle toning. I wanted the platform to demonstrate that the ways to break a sweat in the comfort of your home are endless. Target-specific classes, such as leg toning, dancing, arm workout and boxing, are also offered for those with specific fitness goals.

True wellness enthusiasts will also know that diet constitutes a large portion of keeping fit, which is why MindBonnieSoul also offers classes with a professional nutritionist to help enrich your diet and boost your immune system. Recipes include turmeric curry chicken rice, rainbow fried rice, healthy shakes and super drinks. Beauty is something I’ve always been passionate about, so I wanted to include that as well. I wanted to actually help people and provide useful tips, so I’ve created a video on how to maintain good skin during this period of having to wear masks constantly, as well as how to achieve glowing skin at home through DIY exfoliation.
Moving forward, I hope to expand MindBonnieSoul to reach a wider audience and encourage others to pursue a healthier lifestyle. I want viewers to feel empowered after visiting my platform and inspired to stay well wherever they are. Given the current situation, I wanted to do something for society, so I invited health and fitness experts to share their knowledge on this platform as classes. I hope it encourages people to be both physically and mentally healthier and be the best version of themselves.
