Right before 9PM, MC Cisca Bekker welcomed the guests to the ballroom of Four Seasons Jakarta, which had been decorated by Amarilis to suit the “Return to Glamour” theme for the night.
Ronald gave a heartfelt speech about his journey as a Publisher. He thanked his mother, Chairwoman of DestinAsian Media Group Maggie Halim, whom he credited with his love for travel. This encouraged him to start his first publication, DestinAsian, 15 years ago. He talked about his personal bond with each title that followed: Prestige (2004), DAMan (2008), Joy (2011) and DestinAsian Indonesia (2012).
Throughout 15 years of editorial milestones, DestinAsian Media Group has supported many charities. Beneficiaries include Azzura, Raniwala, Yayasan Balita Sehat Indonesia, Care International, Rachel House, Yayasan Jantung Indonesia, Yayasan AIDS, Yayasan Kelola and Happy Hearts Fund. UNDP Indonesia is another organisation Ronald supports.
The guests were invited to bid in a silent auction, from which they could win stays at Nihiwatu Resort, Sumba, Chiva-Som International Health Resort, Hua Hin,Thailand, Armani Hotel Dubai and Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam. All proceeds from the auction went to Happy Hearts Fund and its mission of rebuilding schools in disaster areas.
To celebrate the special occasion, the man of the hour invited DestinAsian Media Group directors, management and partners that have been tremendously supportive of the publication throughout the 15 years, to join a toasting ceremony: Christopher Hill (Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher of DestinAsian), Chris Hanrahan (Managing Editor of Prestige), Chris Andre (Managing Editor of DAMan), Elizabeth (Editor-in-Chief of Joy), Cristian Rahadiansyah (Editorin- Chief DestinAsian Indonesia), Peter Zewet (Editor-at-Large DestinAsian Media Group), Mitchell Nguyen McCormack (USA Editor for Prestige and DAMan), Maggie Halim (Chairwoman of DestinAsian Media Group), Fransisca Liem (Director of DestinAsian Media Group), Shannon Hartono (Vice President of Time International), Jessie Ling (Director Frontier Markets of Dubai Tourism), Honey Angkosubroto (Board of Directors of Verde), Handiman Ali (Director of Mario Minardi), Edhi Sumadi (Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Indonesia) and Christian Poda (General Manager of Four Seasons Jakarta).
A buffet dinner was served afterwards, while the bar, manned by the trio of Swedish mixologists, to opened. Meanwhile, Ayu Dewi, a muse of Dubai Tourism, took the stage to tell about her memorable experiences on her recent trip to Dubai. Up next on stage was none other than Indonesian diva Ruth Sahanaya, who mesmerised the crowd with her unbelievable vocal range. The crowd singalong was audible throughout her iconic hits, including “Keliru”.
The happy crowd continued to be entertained as The Pop Smith, a British outfit, took the stage. True to their name, the band performed favourite pop songs. As the fun night went on, Dylan Naylor went on stage for another performance. This time, he showcased impressive techniques while baring his chest!
Guests went wild for the eye-catching performance. The party went on into the wall hours, with DJ Downey spinning party anthems that had the guests dancing like there was no tomorrow.
