While on some weeks we focus on giving our body a healthy reset, and on others we’re three tequilas past a horrible hangover-in-the-making, this week has fun and only fun in store. If you need a good laugh, you’ll find it at the Malaysian edition of True Dating Stories where tales of the weird world of awkward dates are shared, or at a murder mystery party for a chance to dress up and get into character. If you’re headed to Penang for the annual George Town Festival, spend a day at Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion and pick up a new skill or two, but if you’re staying in the city this weekend, sample rendang as it should be (you’ll see what we mean in a second) at W Kuala Lumpur.

A Day Within Indigo Walls

In conjunction with the three-week long George Town Festival 2019, Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is welcoming all for an experience that showcases the art and culture of Penang. The day encompasses workshops, demonstrations, performances, an exhibition and the launch of the mansion’s own short film, ‘Within Indigo Walls’ by UK director, Michael Gosbee. Of these, highlights include swing dancing, a string quartet, Chien Nien artistry and Japanese rice paper printing with raw fish. Registration is now closed for guests but the mansion is allocating a number of walk-ins. The event runs from 11am to 5pm.

My Rendang Isn't Crispy

Who could forget the nations dismay at a comment made to Malaysian contestant Zaleha Opin on Masterchef UK regarding her un-crispy rendang? The chef herself pokes fun at the debacle with a special dinner and cookbook launch serving exclusively at W Kuala Lumpur’s Flock, as well as a hi-tea ‘Par-tea’ at Woobar. And yes, the dinner does include Chef Zaleha’s hometown recipe for Rendang Opor Pahang. The hi-tea takes place at 3pm followed by the dinner and cookbook launch at 6.30pm.

If you’ve got one to share but are too shy, write it down anonymously on confession slip handed out during the event for organisers to read them out loud, and submit them before the event to storyparty.net.
