A gala ball in aid of Yan Chai Emergency Assistance Relief Fund (Year Fund) was held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, where a host of generous patrons enjoyed an auction, a fashion show and live performances. The theme of the ball was Venice Fantasy and the hotel’s Grand Ballroom was at its glittering best, hosting a galaxy of celebrities and socialites, including guests of honour Ronald Chan Ngok-pang, Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, and Je Sze Chun-fai, political assistant to the Secretary for Education.
Between courses, we spotted Kayla Wong with a trio of little girls dressed as princesses going table to table selling raffle tickets, while designer Dorian Ho took to the stage to express his support for the cause. Performing artists included Wilfred Lau and the Tai Chi Band, with the evening culminating in a student fashion show.
The ball was organised by a group of Hong Kong students studying abroad who wanted to convey their affection for and sense of responsibility to Hong Kong by supporting Year Fund, which over the past 23 years has donated more than $52 million to 11,000 needy families suffering from misfortune or accidents.
