We have some serious fashion gossip for you: Karl Lagerfeld’s famous cat, Choupette, is no longer his favourite furry thing. Keep it quiet, but Choupette has been replaced in Karl’s affections by Fendi’s fur key chain, Karlito, which was launched with huge fanfare at a party on July 8 at the brand’s boutique in Paris. Designed to honour Lagerfeld’s nearly 50-year association with Fendi, the key chain became an overnight sensation after it appeared on the finger of model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne at the brand’s February catwalk show. Delevingne was not the only celebrity desperate to get her hands on Karlito: Caroline De Maigret, Lily McMenamy, Alexandra Richards, Leigh Lezark and Ming Xi were all spotted alongside Karl Lagerfeld himself at the launch party. Choupette shouldn’t worry, though; even second place in Kaiser Karl’s affections is higher than any of us mere mortals will ever reach.
