Did you know that there’s more to Asia’s “sin city” than just gambling and casinos? Macau is now positioning itself as an art destination with Art Macao, a five-month exhibition taking over the entire city. The highly anticipated ‘International Art Exhibition’ will be held at the Macao Museum of Art, while musical and theatrical performances will take place everywhere from educational institutions to hotels and resorts. Not to mention art installations peppered around town in public spaces and street corners, transforming the SAR into one big immersive art gallery.
From June to October, Macau will be imbued with artistic vitality and creativity, promising surprises around each corner. Below, we share a sneak preview of what to expect and highlight the spots we’re most excited about.
An exhibition tracing the story of legendary movie star turned princess, featuring photographs, jewellery, awards, wedding gown, the Hermès Kelly bag and an extremely rare portrait by artist Andy Warhol.

At MGM Cotai, it’s all about Chinese history and culture during Art Macao. Explore the olden days of China through a series of multimedia masterpieces focusing on the ancient ink medium. Highlights include a modern artistic ink experience by Wen Ma, a video showcase of ink transformation by Yan Youngliang and a three-part opera installation at the MGM Theatre.
7 June–3 September
This is the place for lovers of modern and contemporary art. Wynn houses a curated collection selected for its rich and culturally diverse pieces from Herm Alpert, Robert Indiana, MAD Architects amongst many more. All masterpieces will be presented in Macau for the very first time during Art Macao.
6 June–6 October
In keeping with the style of Sands, the property has commissioned internationally renowned ceramic artist Caroline Cheng to curate a very special collection in the theme of gold for Art Macao. Discover over 90 sparkling masterpieces by 27 artists from around the globe displayed throughout all Sands locations — The Venetian, The Parisian, Sands Macao and Four Seasons Cotai.
8 June–9 October
Melco has been trailblazing the art scene of Macau for quite some time now. City of Dreams owns an impressive contemporary art collection including pieces from KAWS, Shinji Ohmaki, Charles Petillon and Mathieu Lehanneur. Pick up their art map which will take you through an immersive art experience.
