Fed up of making impossible New Year’s resolutions? In this week’s online exclusive, PRESTIGE gives you three goals to keep you looking great and feeling happy in 2014
HIT THE GYM
If you’ve decided to leave any sort of fitness goal off this year’s list, it’s time to add it back in. The 24-hour Fitness Centre at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong overlooks the breathtaking Victoria Harbour from floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can absorb the gorgeous view whilst burning some calories on the treadmill. The gym also offers the latest in cardiovascular equipment (with each machine featuring an individual LCD touch-screen telly and head phones), cross-trainers, as well as an impressive selection of free weights and weight-training machines. Did we mention complimentary Tai Chi classes are available on weekends too?
DO GOOD
Will you benefit from your New Year’s resolutions, or will others, too? As we all know, there are many expenses that need to be paid throughout the year – food, travel, transportation…the list goes on. But if you can set aside a generous donation to a philanthropic organisation such as the Hong Kong Cancer Fund, the benefits multiply. By making a monthly or one-off donation, you will be able to help sustain the Cancer Fund’s free cancer-support services. Donations can be made online, so you won’t even have to step out of the house.
GET IN THE KITCHEN
Learning how to cook has to be one of the easiest New Year’s resolutions ever. All you need to do is sign up for a cooking class (or three) and you’ll be on your way to becoming a MasterChef professional. This year, the InterContinental Hong Kong will continue its popular series of “Cooking with the Culinary Stars” classes, where participants will learn to cook with some of the city’s top-notch chefs including Nobu’s Sushi Chef Hideki Endo, Spoon’s Chef Philippe Duc, Yan Toh Heen’s Chef Lau Yiu-fai, and more. The cooking classes will cover everything from classic techniques and essentials to specialty and seasonal dishes. While you’re at it, enrol yourself in The Baking Club, where you’ll receive hands on instructions from the hotel’s expert pastry chefs, a Baking Club apron, a pastry-equipment set, recipes and an official certificate. And the best news? Your sweet creations will be carefully packed by the hotel staff for you to take home.
