Some may remember Spanish car manufacturer, Seat, that was once in Singapore more than a decade ago, with many sharing fond memories of the brand, it seems. Having left our shores approximately 15 years ago, the marque has once again returned and is ready to take on the Asian motoring industry.
Officially opened on October 15, the Seat Centre Singapore boasts 10,000sq-ft of floor space to house its entire range of vehicles. Furnished with imported furniture and Seat-branded signage, the showroom will offer similar retail experiences of those in other parts of the world. Singapore marks the Spanish automaker’s first foray into Asia, with Seat using the city-state as its gateway to other markets in the region. With the launch, it brings the best of German technology and Spanish design to Singaporean roads.
Part of the Volkswagen Group, Seat’s offerings have oft been pitted alongside Volkswagen’s offerings. In Singapore, Seat’s authorised dealer is Vertex Euro Motors, a subsidiary of the Lian Fong Group. Its models that are available on sale include the family sedan Toleda, the Ibiza supermini, the seven-seater MPV Alhambra and the five-door hatchback and flagship, the Leon. Additionally, the Leon Cupra, the brand’s faster car that will promise 290bhp, will also be launched in Singapore. Its current releases boast a smooth, quiet drive for everyday that rivals that of existing competitors in the market. Next year will also see the release of the urban SUV, the Ateca.
“Asia-Pacific is an important region for Seat and Singapore is a market that we identified as having plenty of room for growth and a potential hub to reach out to other markets in the region,” Sng Khai Hing, executive director at Vertex Euro Motors says.
Having already put a couple of its cars to the test on our roads, we’re excited to see how Seat will fare in Singapore this time.
