Last week, Dior transformed an area in Tai Kwun into a “Dior universe”.
Here, they created dedicated spaces to present selected items from their Fall/Winter 2020-2021 men’s and women’s collections, as well as the newest watches and jewellery they have on offer. Emblazoned on the walls in neon lighting were powerful words and phrases such as “Consent”, “I Say I” and “Beauty is Ready Made”, reminiscent of the fascinatingly provoking Autumn/Winter show they held in Paris earlier in the year.
It’s been said that the collection they presented then was the most relatable and laid back yet, and we find the French maison following that route this season too. While it was rather difficult to imagine wearing coats and boots as we brave Hong Kong’s infamously sweltering summer, it was a delight, nonetheless, to see what we can possibly add to our wardrobe in preparation for the next season.
As we turn to more subdued tones for Fall/Winter, we see darker, more sophisticated iterations of beloved Dior classics, and elegant yet ultra-chic accessories to complement our looks. For jewellery, we got an exclusive preview of a stunning set in malachite, which unfortunately we could not reveal just yet but absolutely adored, so watch this space. However, what we can reveal are the wonderful additions to Victoire de Castellane’s Rose des Vents, the Rose Céleste, where we see the sun in yellow gold on one side and a moon on the other, and a suite of new Grand Bal watches.
Ahead, are our top five picks that we will keep in mind for the seasons to come.
