To celebrate the month of April and Diamond Month, jewellery retailer Wah Chan will be hosting an exclusive three-day Diamond Month event at its flagship showroom at Wisma Wah Chan. From April 19 till 21, you are bound to be dazzled by over 500 rare collector’s jewellery pieces that will be available for acquisition, which are especially perfect for those who are in search of elusive heirloom pieces to be passed down from generation to generation.
All jewellery pieces have been stringently pre-selected by Wah Chan in terms of clarity and rarity, which encompasses the certified rating of a particular diamond. White diamonds are, for example, rated colour-categorised EFG and clarity-certified VS.
To achieve symmetry, all jewellery pieces feature matching diamonds, either of the same cut or colour. The time taken to assemble the diamonds found in some of these jewellery pieces is near immeasurable and requires indeterminable patience, which means it takes supreme craftsmanship to transform these gemstones into a work of art worn on the body.
To shed some light on just what it takes artisans to craft these rare collector’s pieces, below are some of the highlights from the Diamond Month event:
For this platinum 950 diamond ring, Wah Chan has achieved the almost implausible in obtaining 31 pieces of baguette diamonds (6.13ct) of proportional length and width, which in itself is a laborious as sourcing baguette diamonds of equal clarity and colour. The baguette diamonds are arranged geometrically, with baguette diamonds jutting out like rugged sandstone cliffs across the canyon to dispel the impression that the ring can only be round and uniformed.
This platinum diamond-encrusted and emerald-set earrings are the perfect choice for your upcoming birthday. The emerald, which is the birthstone of May, is sourced from Colombia, a South American country known for producing the best emeralds money can acquire. This pair of earrings comprises of 44 round diamonds (0.44ct), 2 round diamonds (0.15ct), 6 pear-shaped diamonds (1.18ct), 4 marquise diamonds (0.6ct), 2 marquise diamonds (0.39ct) and 2 octagon-shaped emeralds (3.21ct); jewels that Cleopatra would nod in approval.
How about a ring to complement your diamond/emerald earrings? This ring speaks a different design language to the ring featured above as this piece thrives on symmetry. An emerald-cut G/VS2 (GIA) diamond (1.5ct) bisects 2 emeralds (1.05ct) to bring out the former’s clarity, while 28 round diamonds (0.41ct) are set on a platinum 950 ring.
If the above doesn’t yet impress, this 18K white gold diamond necklace sparkling around the neck might. Boasting 7 round diamonds (1.28ct), 773 round diamonds (16.37ct), 60 pear-shaped diamonds (6.79ct), 4 pear-shaped diamonds (1.56ct), 45 pear-shaped diamonds (10.58ct) and 1 pear-shaped E/VS2 (GIA) diamond (0.71ct), this stunning necklace comes with a pair of equally enchanting earrings, which are set with 254 round diamonds (2.76ct), 6 pear-shaped diamonds (1.89ct) and 10 pear-shaped diamonds (5.86ct).
For those who gravitate towards coloured diamonds, yellow diamonds should be at the top of your wish list as only 3ct out of 1,000ct of diamonds are coloured; and only 1ct make the cut to be classified as fancy diamonds. In this set of fancy yellow diamonds and diamonds, the ring consists of 46 round diamonds (0.19ct), 1 fancy yellow cushion VVS2 diamond (0.52ct) and 20 fancy yellow diamonds (0.06ct); the earrings are composed of 56 round diamonds (0.13ct), 1 fancy yellow cushion VS1 diamond (0.56ct), 1 fancy yellow cushion VVS2 diamond (0.59ct) and 40 yellow fancy diamonds (0.12ct); while the pendant hangs from an 18K white gold chain is set with 33 round diamonds (0.09ct), 1 fancy yellow cushion VVS2 diamond (0.54ct) and 20 yellow fancy diamonds (0.06ct).
Last but not least, this ring carries both a precious metal as well as bountiful diamonds. Set on a combination of platinum 950 and 18K yellow gold are 49 round diamonds (0.44ct), 1 oval-shaped E/VS2 (GIA) diamond (0.75ct), 1 fancy yellow VS1 diamond (0.69ct) and 49 fancy yellow diamonds (0.41ct).
