Max Mara has something special for its Pre-Fall 2017 show tomorrow. Conceived in collaboration with award-winning Chinese artist Liu Wei, the Italian fashion stalwart will debut a limited edition collection, tagged with the special label “Max Mara + Liu Wei”.
The capsule has 11 original pieces in signature Max Mara colour palette of camel, black and white. Inspired by the topography of real and imaginary metropolises, chainstitch tracery adorn layers of frayed fabrics, its elaborate execution depicting the blueprint of a utopian precinct. Amid trompe l’oeil prints and jacquards, you’ll spot the Italian house’s signature outers such as the fuzzy mohair sweater and cardigan with intriguing contours, a glamorous wrap coat and a slouchy bomber jacket, both of which are crafted from a layer of laser-cut alpaca embroidered onto a base of wool and cashmere.
There’s no lacking in the accessories department either. Keep an eye out for the interesting sunglasses of multilayered construction, and a polyform clutch carrying the artist’s distinctive imprint in the show.
The capsule collection will be available at selected flagship stores and on Maxmara.com right after the show on Thursday, December 15.
