Bulgari collaborates with Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) to redesign the B.zero1 ring, first launched in 1999. The B.zero1 “Design Legend” marries Hadid’s iconic aesthetic – fluid and curvaceous – with Bulgari’s Roman aesthetic. The new design of the ring is inspired by Roman landmark Colloseum.
Bulgari and Hadid’s “Design Legend” collaboration started back in 2015, when Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin approached the Pritzker Prize-winning architect. Following Hadid’s passing in 2016, this unique collaboration marks one of her last projects as an architect, although the firm never ceases its operation.
“Since our design was a reinterpretation, we were inspired by the existing ring itself. Zaha dissected the existing ring into the elements that mostly characterize it: the ‘smile’ shape, the spiral spring effect, and the classic logo branding. The play of void and mass is very much a signature style of Zaha Hadid Architects,” associate at ZHA and the project leader of this collaboration.
The B.zero1 “Design Legend” features two flat bands with the classic BVLGARI engraving of the original 1999 ring, connected by undulating lines of gold that intersect to create a delicate three-dimensional filigree around its circumference. This curvilinear structure conveys the fluidity that is inherent within Hadid’s architecture.
The B.zero1 “Design Legend” ring is now available at Bulgari Indonesia boutiques.
