There’s something regal about drinking tea. The idea of sipping freshly brewed tea leaves from an exquisite China, while enjoying an array of sweet treats in the middle of an afternoon. TWG brings that idea up a notch with its latest Grand Fine Harvest Tea collection.
The collection consists of eight tea creations from six countries – from China to Malawi. The leaves are the first, and only, harvest in a year. The star of the collection is the Grand Golden Yin Zhen, made of white tea leaves (better known as the “silver needles”) brushed with 24K gold. The leaves are manually brushed with the precious gold powder.
“Golden Yin Zhen is the ultimate indulgence, the proof that tea is a living work of art,” said Taha Bouqdib, TWG Tea co-founder and tea innovator.
Prestige took a sip of the precious tea, and its look was definitely mesmerising. The white cup glimmers, as if a fairy spread sparkles on it. The flavour itself was very light, as expected from a cup of silver needles. After the tea finishes, one could see the remaining gold dust at the bottom of the cup. Upon further research, 24K gold dust is believed to be anti-inflammatory, as well as promotes cellular renewal, which leads to anti-aging.
Other teas that are included in the new collection are the Grand Lung Ching, Grand Oolong, Grand Ceylon, Grand Darjeeling, Grand Pu-Erh, Grand Sencha and Grand Malawi. Each member of the collection is encased in a jet-black hand-blown glass flask which protects the leaves from light, while a hand chiselled apothecary stopper ensures the tea remains air tight. Kept in a black box embossed with gold lettering, the new collection makes for a great gift for tea connoisseurs.
