Karen Contet started her career as an exotic derivatives equity trader at JP Morgan, pivoting to become a full stack web developer, before co-founding WHub and AngelHub – the latter of which she’s also CEO – with fellow Woman of Power Karena Belin. In the last year and a half, their joint efforts have resulted in 11 investments, from Series A to unicorn level, from a pool of 1,500 companies, including for WeLab and AnimocaLabs. WHub’s Scaleup Impact Summit this year, a festival for the start-up community, hosted a record-breaking 50,000- plus unique participants from 100 countries.
She’s a French foreign trade advisor, accelerator programmes mentor, international conference speaker (InspireFest2018 in Dublin, JS conference in Singapore, Vivatech in France, RISE in Hong Kong) and FrenchTech Ambassador.
In 2015, Contet co-founded Women Who Code Hong Kong, and avidly promotes diversity within the tech industry. She and Belin hope to democratise venture investment in the tech scene by creating a strong ecosystem to provide due diligence and tools for investors in the region.
