Hong Kong’s youngest representative at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Robyn Lamsam is no stranger to facing challenges with grace and determination. Lamsam’s sporting career evolved into that of a motivational speaker and life coach, in which she shares her experiences as the mother of a child with bilateral hearing impairment. After her son Kyle’s diagnosis, she partnered with Cochlear Asia Pacific to educate parents on its implants. “No regrets” – the pearl of simple wisdom the athlete chose to guide herself – serves as an inspiration for her to develop a positive outlook on life, even while dealing with hardships.
Telling stories – Lamsam believes in using her platform to educate and inspire. She annually attends seminars with HKU MSc Audiology students, where she discusses her family’s experience with cochlear implants. She also supports numerous international charities, including the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Hear and Say Australia, Splash Foundation and New Sight Congo.
