Vicky Lau

Over the past decade, Hong Kong-born chef Vicky Lau has mastered a unique cooking style at her two-Michelin-star restaurant TATE Dining Room. Combining French techniques with Chinese elements and superb artistic plating, her creations have become synonymous with finesse, femininity and savoir-faire. Lau’s intrinsic passion for cooking originated in New York, where she studied graphic design at NYU and was exposed to diverse cuisines, art and multiculturalism. Shortly after attending culinary school and opening TATE, which is now a member of Relais & Châteaux, Lau was voted Asia’s Best Female Chef 2015; she won her second Michelin star this year. During the pandemic, she expanded her business through Date by Tate, which offers dining experiences for the home inspired by Lau’s French x Chinese approach.

SUPERPOWER

With a focus on sustainability and what she calls “the human side of cooking”, Lau’s delicate and yet masterful approach makes her an international sensation. Adaptability, she believes, is the most important quality in the kitchen and in life.
