Vivian Chan is the founder and chairperson of the Hong Kong PropTech Association. This independent organisation aims to connect the real- estate and technology industries, transforming traditional business models and mindsets of the Hong Kong real-estate industry – in which her family has deep roots – through awareness, education, advocacy, employment and investment in tech.
Chan is a strong believer in lifelong learning, having built her organisation on the backbone of an early career in finance and banking. Today, she’s considering pursuing a doctorate and equipping herself with knowledge on how the corporate sector can better help shape public policies for the community. She strives to grow the PropTech community by establishing strategic alliances with sister PropTech associations from Asia to Europe and, locally, to help people understand how tech and innovation can combine for a more sustainable future for the real-estate industry.
Chan’s philosophy is never to stop learning, as the world is changing every day. She keeps her mind open by travelling: “It’s often said that it’s better to travel 10,000 miles than to read 10,000 books. I’m grateful to have travelled to more than 100 countries around the world.” Her motto for success: focus on one thing, do it well repeatedly, and become an expert.
