It’s been over a decade that Angelina Jolie focused on philanthropy and slowing down on acting. Besides being a Special Envoy to UNHCR, she has brought adoption to the public eyes by bringing home three children from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
That’s why when it is announced that Jolie is the new icon of Guerlain Perfumer, it makes headlines. “Guerlain Parfumeur, the French beauty brand since 1828, is honored to announce that Angelina Jolie is the icon of its new fragrance for women. #MonGuerlain,” as Guerlain posted on Instagram at midnight last night.
Little details have been revealed about the new Mon Guerlain perfume, but Jacques Guerlain says that “we create perfumes for the women we admire”. Guerlain’s nose, Thierry Wasser, says that the perfume is inspired by Jolie, expressing the “notes of a woman”.
Jolie’s last beauty commitment was in 2007, when she became the face of Shiseido in 2007. Another noteworthy endorsement that she made was for Louis Vuitton, when she posed for the house’s “Core Values” campaign in 2011. The conscious campaign had also featured Bono, Catherine Deneuve and Mikhail Gorbachev.
But, Jolie being Jolie, it has been reported that she donated her entire earnings from the Guerlain deal to a charity.
