As part of Accor Hotels’ sustainability efforts, Fairmont Jakarta presented a one-of-a-kind fund-raiser, “Dining in the Dark”, on Monday, December 3 in the Ballroom. Guests experienced a culinary journey through taste, smell, touch, and sound, in total darkness, where they were served a sophisticated 12-course set menu that was meticulously crafted by the talented chefs of Fairmont Jakarta. Seated in the pitch-black dining room, the guests were guided and served by visually impaired individuals. It was a life-impacting experience when the roles were reversed – the blind becomes the eyes, opening minds to a deeper consciousness. This was a solidarity event for the visually impaired and a life-impacting experience for the guests. Serving the tables that evening were visually impaired individuals from Yayasan Mitra Netra. Funds raised were donated to the foundation to support its efforts and initiatives in helping the visually impaired.
