On September 19, 2019, we had a private viewing of John Hardy’s jewellry collection at the Presidential Suite of Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta. Established in 1975, John Hardy has injected Indonesian culture, especially Bali, into his dramatic, powerful, and inspiring collection. John Hardy, who is a Canadian Designer and Artist, visited Bali in the mid-1970s and interested in the island’s jewellery-making traditions.
Thus, he learned the techniques from local artisans and then developed his first pieces by applying new design concepts to traditional Balinese methods. He is also building the company’s production centre in Bali, which serves as a living and gathering space with an organic farm and low impact buildings. John Hardy Jewellery pieces are all handcrafted by 80% Balinese artisans and 20% artisans from all over Indonesia. As an international brand, John Hardy preserves Indonesian culture and making it known internationally with the coolest designs, which are worn by the likes of Penélope Cruz and Adwoa Aboah. It’s not just a piece of jewellery; it’s so much more. Check out the stories from the private viewing on our Instagram Highlights.
