What it’s like to attend the Prestige KL Ball 2019

We say this every year, but this edition of the Prestige KL Ball has been our biggest and best yet! None of the unforgettable moments — like crowning the best dressed guests of the night, or picture-perfect moments by YSL Beauty and Perrier-Jouët would have be possible without the support of our incredible partners who helped turned our dream into a reality — with dreams being this year’s theme.

Guests at the Prestige KL Ball 2019 had more to do than the months of fittings and working with designers on the reveal of their red carpet looks. The evening itself is filled with fun, just look at what guests got up to this year:

Arriving in and at style

A highlight of every Prestige Ball, even seen at our Prestige KK Ball 2019, is the elegant Mercedez-Benz parked outside. This year we had the new s 560 e glistening under the spotlight where guests were snapped posing next to, before heading upstairs to a dedicated Mercedez-Benz photo wall.

Strike a pose

Guests certainly do dress to impress, and at our ball, arriving “on time” is to have ample time for striking a pose in front of the camera. This year we saw plenty of chiffon, tiers, and glitter — crowning the Best Dressed winners for the night was no easy feat, and we ended up with five lucky Best Dressed Female winners!

Pop, fizz, clink, and click

Charles Dickens once said, “Champagne is one of those elegant extras in life.” A celebration of this scale called for champagne — and lots of it. Our friends at Perrier-Jouët were there to top up glasses of bubbly throughout the night, starting at the tropical pop-up bar at the cocktail reception area, complete with a majestic lion statue and props like crowns.

The grand (ballroom) reveal

With The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s art deco and glamour, there could be no ballroom more fitting for the night of opulence ahead. It was a huge surprise at how magical the entrance into the Majestic Ballroom was. Imagine gushes of smoke at your feet, like a lucid dream into a beautiful dreamscape. Associate Publisher Rubin Khoo revealed that the idea was to create a dreamlike effect, where guests feel as though they’re transported into another world. “The entire visual experience is an invitation for guests to go n a journey with us,” he shared.

Photo-op moments

When guests were in need for a touch up, YSL Beauty was ever ready with a range of makeup products to play around with. And before heading back into the ballroom, guests Rouge-d out at the photo wall (or rather, box) set up.

And of course, the food

It is a dinner, after all. The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur put together a feast for this year’s menu, which included chef recommendations like 18-hour Slow Braised Beef Cheek and the favourite of the night, Australian Baby Lobster Bisque. Once the ball had ended, guests were ushered to a special supper and after party right outside the ballroom where local duo BATE opened up the dance floor.
