Strength training and conditioning
My life always revolves around health as it is the family business, especially when it comes to food. Don’t get me wrong, I love my desserts and local delights but I make sure I eat in moderation. I started working out with the goal to lose weight but that all changed when I started experiencing the benefits of combining fitness and nutrition. I was more energetic, stronger, in a better mood and less prone to falling sick. Taking care of myself and others became my new goal.
At the beginning, I was trying out everything the typical gym classes have to offer to explore what I like, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted because I had limited knowledge when it came to fitness. I learned a lot along the way and I currently work out three times a week with movements that focus on strength, conditioning and aesthetic work at Revelation Republic. Now that I know what I want and need for my body, elements of high-intensity circuits are also part of my programming customised by my trainer to meet my fitness goals.
The biggest lifestyle change I’ve made would be adding adaptogens to my juices and smoothies. I find that it balances my hormones, giving me that energy kick and happy skin.
Co-founder and Trainer at Revelation Republic
I always tell my clients to remember the reason they started training. Do it for the right reasons – to improve their quality of life, to prolong functional strength and movement, to ensure they are physically able to carry out the duties entrusted to them. This is vital because there will be days when it gets tough or you feel like giving up, and that’s when you remember the reason you started.
My personal approach to fitness is constant learning and adaptability. Knowledge is truly important in helping both myself and my clients of various needs to achieve their fitness goals. I constantly strive to improve training techniques for better efficiency, even if it means getting out of my comfort zone – that’s the strength of adaptation.
One of the most memorable life-changing stories is a client by the name of Dipak. He was severely overweight and had a near-death experience from the circumstance he was in. I trained him at 6am in the morning five times a week and in a space of seven months, he lost 22kg and he was in the best shape of his life then. He also adopted a much healthier and fulfilling lifestyle. To me, that matters more than any physical transformation.
