Born and raised in Medan, 23-year-old Dutch-Indonesian Michelle Ziudith broke into acting as a teenager when she was offered the lead in Strawberry and Vanilla, an Astro TV series. After that, she landed a role in another TV series, Love in Paris. She lived in Paris for five months and was invited to attend the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, along with Maudy Koesnaedi. “I met Leonardo diCaprio,” she says.
“They were showing The Great Gatsby.” Michelle goes on: “Playing the main lead in a film or TV series is a huge responsibility for a young actress because there are a lot of other people who are working on the production and you don’t want to let them down. I have learned that creating a good film comes from strong team work, between the cast and with the people who work behind the scenes. I know I have to work with all of my heart to produce the best results.”
Michelle was a victim of bullying when she was in high school and she has not forgotten the pain it caused her “My life was made miserable. When I got bullied, I couldn’t be happy, I felt small, like I was nothing.
Her past experience taught her to be someone who brings good impact to the society. Through her role as a public figure, she hopes to inspire more women and young people to create more meaningful things and supporting each other’s work. “Currently, I have joined an Indonesian women’s community to empower young people. Yes, I want to help people and tell them: “Guys, I’ve been there.”
