What made Nadia Tjahyadikarta create her own fashion label? “I followed my instincts,” replies the daughter of Alila Hotels and Resorts founder Franky Tjahyadikarta. “For me, both worlds (hospitality and fashion) are interconnected. I like dressing up and going to nice places. And I wanted to create a label that could provide styles that I love but aren’t easy to find in Indonesia.”
On a daily basis, Nadia chooses accessories that make her feel empowered. “I make sure that my earrings complement my face,” she says. I like to wear rings on special occasions, but my style is generally quite simple. Mostly I wear black and work dresses.”
The same philosophy goes for the vision of G+NA, the label she introduced in 2016. “I want all the women who wear my clothes to have a freedom to style them their own way,” says Nadia, “and be very confident with it.”
Nadia launched G+NA a year after one year after obtaining a Master’s degree in Hospitality Industry studies from New York University (NYU). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of Southern California (USC).
As head of marketing for the family business, Nadia has embarked on some interesting hospitality projects. For example, she has hooked up with Dorothy Wang, who starred in the reality show Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, and Cedric Vongerichten, son of top chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, to create a new restaurant, Vong Kitchen, which will be launched at Alila Jakarta.
