Armenian Church & Néktar
We love their style. The wedding of Franklin Tang and Astrid Wardana was absolutely stress-free. For one, the couple did away with the traditional early morning bride pick-up so Astrid got her beauty sleep while Franklin had a leisurely breakfast with his best man. The wedding ceremony only started at 3PM at the Armenian Church, where the lawn had been transformed into a mini Smurf village. The groom was teary-eyed when he laid his eyes upon his bride as she walked down the aisle. After exchanging their vows, the couple and the wedding party headed to Néktar for an intimate cocktail party.
Saying “I Do” In Style
Rings: Cartier rose gold rings from the Love Collection
The bride wore: Amsale Cristos strapless silk, satin and organza gown with a sweetheart neckline and full skirt from Central Wedding in Hong Kong; pink patent pumps from Christian Dior; Magic Alhambra necklace and diamond earrings from Van Cleef & Arpels
The groom wore: Black suit, white shirt and black belt from Dior Homme; Year of the Snake tie from Hermès; shoes from Tod’s
How they met: Through mutual friends at premium cocktail bar Néktar
How he proposed: Inspired by Astrid’s love for the retrograde movement of the Pont Des Amoureux watch from Van Cleef & Arpels (where two lovers meet and kiss on a bridge when the watch strikes 12), Franklin orchestrated a grand proposal atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge. During his planning, he was insistent on having the same elements the watch has — a bridge and a kiss with, of course, a ring.
Fun fact: When they were dating, Franklin and Astrid would refer to their respective homes as mushrooms and theirfriends as the “village”. This led to the idea of a Smurf-themed wedding that set the tone for a fun-filled celebration.
