Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo
Chief Food Officer of GoFood
During our Zoom session with Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, Chief Food Officer of GoFood, she revealed that she hadn’t always been a tech savvy person. “I always avoided tech-based project and I always told them that I would do anything, as long as it’s not tech,” she reminisced about her first job at a management consultant company. That fear, however, started to dissipate when she started working at Zalora, one of the first e-commerce outfits in Indonesia.
Then, three years ago, Sutjahyo joined Gojek as the company’s Chief Food Officer in charge of GoFood. “It’s a humbling experience, especially looking at the people whose livelihoods depend on us,” she revealed. “It teaches me about the kind of impact that we can do for the country and how important the digital economy is, especially during the pandemic.”
Food delivery has grown exponentially during the pandemic and GoFood was quick to respond to the situation by launching new solutions to help people feel safe and, at the same time, can take care of each other. “We launched contactless delivery through chat, so you can instruct drivers to leave the food somewhere. We also distributed safety seals to our merchants as well. More importantly, we are educating our merchants to prepare their food more hygienically,” Sutjahyo elaborates. “We also prepared a template to be attached on food packaging, which details who prepared the food, which driver picked it up and their temperatures for contact tracing. At the end of the day we want to emulate the feeling that we are taking care of each other, from merchants, driver partners and the customer.”
