In 2014, then-four-year-old molecular gastronomy restaurant Gaggan was ranked third in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. In 2015 and 2016, the eatery triumphantly took top spot, a sign of the rise of the Asian fine dining scene. The founder and chef is originally from Kolkata, and first discovered a passion for music as a rock-and-roll band drummer. He later switched tracks to culinary school, finding work at elBulli and other renowned restaurants.
