Gaggan Anand

In 2014, then-four-year-old molecular gastronomy restaurant Gaggan was ranked third in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. In 2015 and 2016, the eatery triumphantly took top spot, a sign of the rise of the Asian fine dining scene. The founder and chef is originally from Kolkata, and first discovered a passion for music as a rock-and-roll band drummer. He later switched tracks to culinary school, finding work at elBulli and other renowned restaurants. Gaggan’s penchant for creative and innovative dishes, prepared via unconventional methods, cast the Bangkok foodie scene in a new light; with the two-time title of Best in Asia, Gaggan’s influence is further cemented in the fabric of the gastronomy sphere.
