Fadly Sahab graduated in Urban Planning from Gadjah Mada University, but he decided to devote his life to making his clients look better and feel more confident about themselves. “We started in 2009 with a small salon focusing on permanent hair removal treatment,” recalls the CEO of ZAP. Now, his company has more than 35 branches in such locations as Plaza Senayan, Lotte Shopping Avenue, Kota Kasablanka and Grand Indonesia. Sahab has created a luxury line called ZAP Premiere, while Menology caters to the rapidly growing men’s market.
“While figuring out how to grow the business, I saw that social media had a big potential for advertising and marketing,” Sahab says. “It was cheap, but not many people understood how effective it could be back then. Basically, technology has helped us tremendously in expanding the company.
“2014 was an important year for us, when we reinvented our hair removal salon as a laser-based beauty clinic in order to serve more patients. Fortunately, we gained in terms of client retention, because people do need to take care of their faces and bodies. In my work, I focus on things that are within my control rather than worry about what I can’t change. If we focus on giving clients the best value, then I believe there will always be a place for us in the market.”
