The new Lexus LC 500 Convertible is a refreshing take on the LC line, providing drivers with an astonishing, multi-sensory experience.
When it comes to the Lexus LC 500 Convertible, the very first of the five senses that it excites would undoubtedly be the sense of sight. Far from just being a coupé with a retractable roof, this sportscar looks like it is designed with a convertible version in mind.
And indeed, from the very first design process, Lexus had already imagined this variant for the LC 500 line. Quite impressive if you consider that this is the Japanese marque’s very first soft-top convertible vehicle.
Everything that made the LC 500 a stunning example of car design can also be found in this version. Inspired by the LF-LC concept car, the LC 500 Convertible offers the same signature low, sharp front design, 3-beam LED projector lamps and Spindle Grille. Now, these elements are further accentuated with the open-top construction giving the car an incredibly striking silhouette.

As the driver gets into the cockpit, Lexus has utilised a clever blend of luxury and technology to offer up a refined and sophisticated interior. More importantly, it is also designed to have an intuitive layout of the controls along with a comfortable seating position to create a driver-centric experience. It also helps that under the hood there is 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine and the Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission. Further enhancing the driving experience, the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and highly rigid body combine to provide fantastic handling stability.
When it’s time to let the top down and feel the wind in your hair, the roof goes from shut to open in just 15 seconds. And to close, it takes 16 seconds.
Despite being a convertible, Lexus cleverly utilised the unique shape of the beltline and rear moulding to reduce the wind noise. A transparent wind deflector located behind the rear seats also helps to reduce buffeting. Through a combination of this design feature and 13-speaker Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound System, both driver and passenger can enjoy a rich audio experience even with the top down.
