Anyone who has ever taken a ride behind the driver seat of a BMW can certainly attest to its incredible presence on the road; and with the arrival of the new i3s, this experience takes a whole new meaning once you find out that the vehicle has been designed to be 95 percent recyclable.
As the first all electric vehicle in Malaysia, this eco-warrior-on-wheels stands out with its distinctive design created using natural, renewable resources and upcycled materials. When it came to designing the i3s, BMW decided to replace petroleum-based plastics found in most vehicle door lining and instrument panel with strong fibres from the kenaf plant, a wondrous material that also significantly reduces the weight of the vehicle.
Additionally, the automobile marquee used discarded PET bottles to obtain polyester, which was incorporated into its fabric. This innovative process not only adds to the durability of the seat covers, floor linings, roof liners and floor mats, it also reduces the need of incorporating thermoplastic synthetic materials which are often found in conventional vehicles.
Easy on the eyes in deep metallic red paired with blacked-out 20-inch alloy wheels, the i3s will have you sitting pretty even in the middle of rush hour traffic. Passengers will also feel pampered by the Giga World Interior packaging which adds a stunning naturally tanned leather with olive leaf extract to the seats. The resulting supple finish and fresh scent makes for a pleasant departure from the trademark black, brown or cream interiors found in other BMW models. The final price to pay for driving with a clear conscience? Only a cool MYR279,000 (on the road).
