Fine art and superlative architecture has always gone hand in hand, and Sansiri has continued this trend by partnering with famed British sculptor Sir Antony Gormley.
From August 23 onward, the real estate developer – which has focused its attention on the luxury market quite a bit recently, with the opening of 98 Wireless among other projects – will display work Gormley has made exclusively for Sansiri at the Sansiri Lounge in Siam Paragon.
Gormley, who has been practicing since the 1960s, is known for the creative use of his own form as a muse to investigate the relationship between the body and space. His sculptures are typically installed in public places – at beaches, on hilltops, in skyscrapers – inviting viewers to freely interpret them based on their changing environments.
One of his most iconic sculptures, the steel-born, Gateshead-located Angel of the North, stands 20-metres-tall, with wings that measure 54-metres-wide and are angled forward as if to embrace the viewers standing before the sculpture.
It’s not yet known what whether the work he will produce for Thailand will be large or small in scale, but it’s without question it will be one of the most provocative sculptures displayed in Bangkok all year.
