A casual get-together for lunch usually requires no fuss, but it doesn’t hurt to serve a mid-day feast on a simple yet beautifully styled table.

Led by Surabaya-based interior designer Hidajat Endramukti, the highly rated design team at Elite Graha Cipta opted for gold accents and fresh flowers to create an informal yet elegant white-dominated table setting at the company’s show house in Kyai Maja, South Jakarta.

“It’s not intended to be a formal lunch setting,” said Endramukti, whose past projects have included De Soematra in Surabaya, The Shalimar Boutique Hotel in Malang and Puri Apsari, Bali. “It’s more for a casual dining occasion with friends and family. I wanted to portray a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, while still oozing elegance and glam.”
White dominated the setting, which was complemented by elements of gold and a few touches of silver. “The combination of gold and white are always beautiful, especially when the light hits them,” said the designer.

The result was a table setting full of porcelain and gold statement pieces, including tableware and decorative ornaments. Endramukti used several collections from two of his favourite brands: L’Objet and Baccarat. For his
tableware, the designer chose dinner plates from L’Objet’s Fortuny and Byzanteum Gold collections. He also used gilded bread and butter plates from the Alchimie collection, where he placed unique-looking nipple fruit on top for decorative purposes.

A three-tier server from the Deco Leaves collection was selected for appetisers. These pieces were paired with crystal champagne glasses from Baccarat’s Massena collection. To spruce up the atmosphere, the designer opted for candles and flowers. “These are the go-to essentials, along with pieces of fruit,” he explained. “They are easy on the eye and they lighten up the mood almost instantly.” Bouquets of white Casablanca lilies, whose scent filled the room, were arranged in a Ginkgo Apollo vase by Baccarat. A crystal candlestick from Baccarat’s Our Fire collection, along with votive candles from the Eye collection, accentuated the table’s gold palette.

Instead of formal dining chairs, Endramukti used Coba stools from L’Objet’s Bebek + Pakal collection. He found the hand-painted and antiqued gold accents of the stools to be an appropriate addition to the table: “They create a playful touch. They also reflect a casual and informal look.” A suspended Upton Hanging Lantern by Ralph Lauren also accentuated the minimalist and casual look of the table. “I purposely didn’t want to use crystal chandeliers,” said Endramukti. “I didn’t want to overwhelm the setting.
