As the GT4 European Series continues, Prestige Indonesia takes a closer look at the bespoke Maserati GT4 decorated by Cyril Kongo and chats with the artist himself.
While the COVID-19 pandemic still shows no signs of abating, the world is slowly – but surely – adjusting to the new reality and regaining its confidence. As such, we’ve seen a return of major events, such as the Champions League in Europe, the 2020 MTV VMAs, and now: the GT4 European Series. For the latter, Italian luxury icon Maserati presents a bespoke Maserati GT4 and elevated it with a touch of graffiti, created by self-made French-Vietnamese artist Cyril Kongo.

As soon as the Trident-bearing sports car revealed its rebellious look, we can almost “hear” the legendary roar from the racy form of the GranTurismo MC, longing for the road. Covered in Kongo’s signature letters and lively colours, the Maserati GT4 looks intriguing while still hinting at its on-track performance.

Designed to compete in the GT4 European Cup Series, the Maserati x Cyril Kongo GT4 is powered by a 460hp V8 engine, originally designed by Ferrari for the F430. Interestingly, it’s been a decade since Maserati presented the race-spec GranTurismo MC for the Trofeo World Series. All in all, the Maserati x Cyril Kongo GT4 is more than just an iconic sports car. In times of darkness, it invites us to ride away, celebrates one-of-a-kind works of art and enjoy the thrills of driving.
Known for creating amazing works on a wide range of materials, French-Vietnamese artist Cyril Kongo is famous for his urban art as well as his collaboration with top tier luxury brands. We talked with the self-made artist who recently held his solo art exhibition at the Arche de la Défense about his recent work with Maserati:
Sportscar means to me: Excellence, dynamic, precision and powerful.
I love to drive a car or motorcycle — I love driving a lot. It’s a feeling of freedom. Especially with a powerful car.
This car is a combination of rough line and colours representing the energy of this car and urban art.
This car is a piece of art, with its Ferrari motor of which only 10 like this exist in the world. I’ve made this car into something unique; a real masterpiece on wheels. I play with it as I play on my canvases.
I would love to drive around the world, crossing the continents by road, stopping by and leaving my mark, discovering the world on the road, crossing towns and villages – it’s not the same if you do it through the air. It’s an anthem to take time in your life and enjoy the planet.
