In spring/summer 2019 womenswear collection, Nicholas Ghesquire was inspired to invent a new “landscape” as he plays with graphics and volumes, conquering new silhouettes. The quest for a new adventure also translated into the collection’s accessories, especially its signature bags. Prestige has exclusive insights on three stand-out bags from the SS19 collection:
1. Mini Dauphine Bag in Taurillon Leather
These bags are a modern take on the House’s classic Dauphine, which was created in Monogram canvas in 1976. Featuring a new clasp, this design is made with Taurillon leather and has smooth calfskin leather trimmings. This new mini size is available for the first time in the SS19 collection.
2. Trapèze Bag
The striking original and geometric shape of the Trapèze bag stood out during the SS19 fashion show. This bag has a new clasp that was inspired by the House’s classic trunks. The clasp, its chain and metal details, make it feminine and modern piece.
3. Mini Luggage Bag
If you buy a Louis Vuitton bag, you should own iconic suitcases of Louis Vuitton. This miniature version of one of the House’s classic 1960s suitcases such as the Sirius, Alzer and Ruban Bleue, the Mini Luggage bag is a partially-hard-sided design made in the House’s iconic materials: Monogram canvas with embellishments and corner details in natural cowhide leather. Fun fact: Leather workers require between seven and eight hours to make the Mini Luggage bag.
