After celebrating its 15th-year in China by debuting its pre-fall 2019 collection, Coach has finally launched a special collection in collaborations with four contemporary creatives based in China: Rexy Remix. The collection was brought together by Coach to reimagine the brand’s beloved mascot Rexy.
First seen on the runway during Coach’s pre-fall 2019 show in Shanghai, the collection fuses the creative energy of the city with the bold attitude of New York. Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers tapped four local creatives from Shanghai’s contemporary art and music scene: Sui Jianguo, Yeti Out, Zhu Jingyi, and Guang Yu.
Artist Sui Jianguo made a T-Rex sculpture, which is photographed to create a distorted photo print. Music collective Yeti Out incorporated Rexy into their signature graphic round face. Zhu Jingyi playfully recontextualized the brand’s mascot in an authentic ink drawing. Meanwhile, Graphic Artist Guang Yu reinterpreted Rexy in a fierce hand-drawn graffiti print.
The Rexy Remix collection is now available in Coach stores globally and on coach.com.
