And he continues to support the livelihood of weavers throughout Indonesia
It all started out with a passion to inspire young people to appreciate traditional Indonesian fabrics. Fast forward to nine years later, and IKAT Indonesia by Didiet Maulana has done exactly what the designer intended to do and more by opening more doors of opportunity to share and grow together with the community. IKAT’s ninth anniversary is celebrated, in part, with the launch of a collection featuring touches of ikat and lurik.
Apart from the collection, Didiet Maulana also launched a “New Normal Essentials” set. This was done in part to support Indonesian weavers and help them deal with the current situation. The “New Normal Essentials” set includes a mask and connector, hand soap and antiseptic. The main material for the mask is a combination of ikat and lurik, which also represents the richness of Indonesian culture.
Furthermore, the set comes with a pouch with a waterproof layer that is easy to clean and can protect the mask from dust and germs or viruses. There are also masks and connectors designed to be worn with a hijab. All in all, the ikat and lurik geometric motifs create a stylish look for everyday wear.
