Only days after Singer and Entrepreneur Rihanna broke the news about her new luxury fashion line, Fenty, would be managed under LVMH group, she launched the first Fenty collection through a pop-up store in the fashionable Marais district, 10 Rue de Turenne, Paris, on May 22, 2019. It runs until June 2, 2019. At the opening night, fellow creative directors under the LVMH group and designers came to support, such as Maria Grazia Chiuri and Olivier Rousteing. Meanwhile, fans of RiRi were patiently queuing to see the first collection of Fenty. The full collection will be launched online on May 29, 2019, 1 PM CET, on fenty.com.
RIHANNA IN FENTY
As she hosted the opening night of Fenty’s pop-up store, the 31-year-old singer showed up in a Japanese denim corset Fenty dress. The Creative Director of the Maison is giving a lot of preview of what her collection looks like through what she wears daily.
The collection consists of neutral shades suits with strong shoulders and shows off a woman’s curves. “Women are forces of this earth. We are multifaceted, complex, vulnerable yet bulletproof, and Fenty speaks to all of our intricacies,” as she explains it.
A TRIBUTE TO WOMEN
Fenty’s debut collection is like a tribute to a woman’s body – it’s all about the waist. Classic pieces such as suits, denim, and trench coats are seen oversized, yet they all still look flattering with its nip details on the waistline. “I had to check how every piece works on my hips, my thighs, and make sure this isn’t something that just looks good on a fit model,” she says.
Signature pieces in Fenty collection accentuate your body curves. Rihanna says that her pieces will make your waist looked snatched! A fanny pack on the baggy suits suit enhances the waistline. Meanwhile, the voluminous shirt gives you confidence like Rihanna.
As we have seen in Rihanna’s style, the collection also offers reversible parkas, with two different materials and colours such as caramel cotton-nylon blend or patent black leather. Rihanna explained that Fenty’s collection is gender-bending and also available for all body sizes.
Fenty’s signature pieces accentuate body curves. Rihanna says that her pieces make your waist looked snatched. A fanny pack on baggy suits? Fenty makes it suitable for your waistline. In the collection, you can also find deconstructed and oversized white shirts, which you will love to wear it as a dress, just like what Rihanna does.
The collection also features accessories such as crystal cuffs, ceramic-hoop earrings, as well as strappy heels, and tinted-coloured futuristic eyewear.
POP-UPS, NO RUNWAYS
Rihanna wants Fenty to be as disruptive as possible. “The brand is not traditional. There is no runway show. It’s a new way of doing things because I believe that this is where fashion is going to go eventually,” said Rihanna to New York Times.
“I hope I can reach a broad audience,” she says. “I can’t wait to walk outside and just run past someone who’s wearing it. I think that’ll be a huge moment for me,” says Rihanna. Cheers Rihanna!
