Glamorous and fabulous, Bruno Sialelli’s latest collection is meant for the party life
There’s an ode to music videos from the MTV era, a certain joie de vivre that feels like a blast from the past, and the glamorous vibes of the Lanvin woman. Bruno Sialelli’s latest ready-to-wear collection for the House of Lanvin is all that and more.
The debut Lanvin’s fall/winter 2021 ready-to-wear collection was also accompanied by an era-appropriate film shot at the Shangri-La hotel in Paris featuring a co-ed cast of models and the odd actor cameoing. It certainly hammered home the “MTV music video from the early 2000s” feel that the collection seemed to draw from.
For the ladies, there were semi-fitted silhouettes that had sharply tailored fronts flowing into roomier volumes. Material-wise, lustrous fabrics like satin, taffeta, and silk charmeuse were prevalent among the cocktail dresses and coats. In a way, these looks looked to the past for inspiration, but certainly they were also injected with anticipation for life after the pandemic.
For the gents, there were designs that would have been the top-of-the-pick for musicians in the early 21st century, but appropriately uplifted with a nod to the couture core of Lanvin. The trousers, for example, were slouchy, but artfully so. Dressier options like a velvet lounge suit paired with a quilted overcoat were also presented.
All in all, Bruno Sialelli has once again solidified his vision for the oldest Parisian maison.
