The famous maison’s latest Cruise collection is inspired by a stationary journey through this time of the pandemic.
For Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2021 collection, designer Nicolas Ghesquière was inspired by a stationary journey. The images of the collection itself was shot in the designer’s studio in Pont-Neuf, Paris by Nicolas Krief. With the Cruise 2021 Collection, Ghesquière invites us on a very personal journey: his past, present and endless possibilities for the future.
Dubbed “Game On,” the collection found symbols from a deck of playing cards. Ghesquière turned the symbol into graphic motifs and put them on dresses and other garments with the label’s iconic Monogram on the accessories. It expresses a particular art of living that keeps the brand’s trunk-making heritage alive. It’s the symbolism of a deck of cards, a traveller’s loyal companion, entertainment cultivating togetherness.
“I looked somewhere that has been calling out to me for a long time, somewhere I hadn’t taken the time to go back to. To uncover one inspiration after another. This is an exploration of my creative identity,” noted Ghesquière.
The collection exudes a touch of streetwear flair with oversized outerwear mixed with track and lounge trousers. The brand’s signature Archlight sneakers are also utilized to level up the more casual looks. Colourful stripes and colour blocks add some artful details to the whole collection.
