The coolest kids in Bangkok wear Takara Wong — that is as much a fact which has made this brand a fashion force to be reckoned with in the city. Sneak a look at the front row of their latest show, and there’s no denying this young street wear brand has won the heart of people you would call ‘it’ boys and girls, albeit of different generations, namely Ploi Horwang, the boys from Slot Machine and Slur, Disaya Korgotchamas, Sirinrat Vidhyaphum and a number of the up-and-coming creative talents whose work you have seen somewhere, somehow.
Front row guests aside, Takara Wong proves he has what it takes to be the talk-of-the-town fashion label and a go-to sartorial choice for the country’s coolest people: oversized-yet-tailored suiting with exaggerated proportion, leather coat paired with white shirt and wrap mini-skirt, biker jackets, prints, leopard, python and metallic. The Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter collections are woven together through shared sensibilities: rock and roll, underground club culture, rock stars and all the scandals and stories of their lives. Creative director/ founder Thakorn Wannawong creates a collage of these myths and legends — their rise and fall — and the wardrobe that’s central to their iconic persona.
