Offering an edgy, prolific, and fun twist to the new era of Thai fashion, Tube Gallery was founded in 1999 by designer-duo Saksit “Te” Pisalasupongs and Phisit “Yui” Jongnarangsin. Fast forward to today, and the brand has made major waves in the region’s fashion scene with their dramatic ready-to-wear pieces, all of which come streaked with a touch of semi-couture.
Having been showcased in the likes of Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, and even Paris, the brand recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with a stunning fashion gala, held at the buzzing Club at Koi. Titled ‘KOI x Tube Gallery — Night at the Museum’, the show was all about channelling “more is more”, and an unabashedly dramatic glamour. From which fashion faces were in attendance, to the models who walked the show, here’s our #PrestigeRecap of the affair.
‘Night at the Museum’ by Tube Gallery
The collection’s concept was born from a trip to the National Museum of Biology in France — or, more precisely, the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. Filled with biodiversity and a penchant for surprises, it was here that the designers found inspiration for the special collection. Full of dramatic props and bold accessories, there’s a hint at Tube Gallery’s flair for theatrical-wear, with loud forms and fun colours that follow the “more is more” aesthetic Te and Yui have gone by since day one.
The Event: What Went Down?
Bangkok’s key faces in the fashion scene, along with society A-listers and close friends of Tube Gallery’s designers gathered at Koi on Friday evening for a night of food, fun, and fashion. The exclusive launch marked the Koi gala season finale, as well as the 7th fashion gala to be hosted there, with previous editions featuring the work of acclaimed designers Prapakas, Munch’s, Kwankao, and even world-class names tributes to brands such as Christian Dior, Gianni Versace, and Roberto Cavalli.
Frequents at Koi will know to always expect a pretty good party, and naturally guests were not disappointed. With a cutting-edge equipment from Italian production team SK Art of Events, the night was filled with stunning outfits, great entertainment, as well as delectable servings of Japanese cuisine with a Californian twist.
