For centuries, silver has been reputed as an incredibly valuable material all across the world — in Thailand it’s no different. From its initial purpose as a form of currency used to trade goods, the precious metal has since found footing in a variety of different uses, from being used to make containers and utensils, to attire and jewellery. In celebration of the material, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, is set to unveil a new exhibition during the 65th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair. Called the ‘Siam Silver Showcase — From Past to Present’, the exhibition will feature contemporary jewellery pieces, rare silver, and niello masterpieces for the very first time in Thailand, and is set to take place from February 25 – 29, 2020, at Challenger 2, Impact Exhibition Centre Muang Thong Thani.
