Long before cult boutiques the likes of Colette and Dover Street Market, there was Paula’s Ibiza. Otherwise known as the epitome of Ibizan way of life, expressed in its distinctively carefree, nature-centric prints, the bohemian store brims with art, glamour and fun in an amazing flower-filled interior. Established in 1972, it was the shop you had to stop by — fashion mavericks Valentino Garavani and Jean Paul Gaultier, rock star Freddie Mercury, disco queen Donna Summer and Queen Sofia of Spain are just some of the store’s impressive guest list of who’s whos.
The boutique’s co-founder Armin Heinemann revives a selection of original prints and best-selling garment designs from the archives, which Loewe’s ateliers have reinterpreted into a covetible capsule. Spanning from one-of-a-kind apparel pieces to island-ready accessories such as bags, espadrilles, hats and scarves, the collection includes Loewe faves such as the Puzzle bag and T-pouch, now adorned with a punchy parrot motif created with the house’s ingenious leather intarsia technique.
“For me, in a weird way, it’s like they are kind of like the Liberty of Ibiza,” shared Anderson. “We’ve used all their print skills so we’ve reproduced in terms of how they’ve done printing in proper screen printing. I think it’s quite interesting that now you can have this sort of like patchwork vibe on a bag. And it’s a meeting of two, where leather craft meets a really kind of noticeable print aesthetic.”
Completing the range of cool collectibles is a limited edition book featuring images British fashion photographer Jamie Hawkesworth shot at Heinemann’s farmhouse and apartment in Ibiza.
