Supermodel Sasha Pivovarova stars in Dior’s Spring/Summer 2018 advertising campaign captured by photographer Patrick Demarchelier. For the ads, the Russian supermodel, who opened Dior’s SS18 fashion show, poses surrounded by her art works.
As an artist, Sasha has been illustrating books for Karl Lagerfeld and Miuccia Prada. Her art works even got featured in Saatchi gallery, London. Before she become a supermodel, she pursued her interest in art by studying Art History at the Russian State University for Humanities.
The campaign aesthetics were inspired by the 1960s, evoking a spirit that’s equal parts artistic, feminine and cheekily playful. In charge of creative direction was Maria Grazia Chiuri. “Her portraits of women with angular faces and large, mesmerising eyes are very personal to Sasha as they are a reflection of her and her emotions,” said Dior. “The creative process is reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle, Maria’s source of inspiration for the collection.”
