The French maison showcases creativity and watchmaking expertise in the limited edition Arceau Cheval Cosmique
The Hermès Arceau Cheval Cosmique watch comes with a dial that’s adorned with a silhouette of a horse and waves in engraved gold. Shaped by the hands of the maison’s artisans to make it a true companion for those who wear them, the watch comes with an aventurine or mother-of-pearl and enamel background for the dial.
Speaking of which, the motif on the dial – which is transposed in a splendid trotting horse and a wavy motif hand-engraved in white gold – echoes the Cheval Cosmique composition that combines graphic undulations with the silhouette of a horse from Émile Hermès’ private collection. This composition was originally imagined by artist Gianpaolo Pagni.
It took almost a week for Hermès’ artisans to transpose this depiction of the horse from Émile Hermès’ private collection to the modest dimensions of the Arceau watch dial on a gold plate less than half a centimetre thick.
The waves are engraved with a fine black lacquer and then placed on the dial before covering the surrounding area with aventurine or enamel and mother-of-pearl. Then, the beautifully engraved horse is put in place, setting the perfect final touch to this creation.
To top it off, in order to make the Arceau Cheval Cosmique remix even more special, the watch is produced in two limited series of 24 each. For the first, the watch comes in white gold. This particular model displays its equestrian motif at the heart of a dial featuring deep shades of aventurine enhanced by an abyss-blue alligator strap, and is driven by the Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement.
For the second model, the watch comes in white gold set with diamonds. It also frames a luminous dial in mother-of-pearl and enamel and highlighted by a Chantilly alligator strap. This model is also completed with the Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement.
All in all, with the meticulous craftsmanship shown by Hermès and its artisans, it’s safe to say that the Arceau Cheval Cosmique is a definitive showcase of the expertise and creativity of Hermès Horloger.
