Even though we’re only two months into 2021, we already have several new favourites among a new crop of recently released timepieces
Hermès Nantucket
The story of Hermès’ Nantucket watch, which began back in 1991, continues this year with the Chaîne d’ancre. This model, which features a rectangle within a rectangle on its case, is inspired by the anchor chain links of the maison’s classic Chaîne d’ancre bracelet that was imagined by Robert Dumas in 1938.
Furthermore, it also offers a new take on the iconic link, which merges seamlessly into a light and supple steel or rose gold bracelet. Design wise, the watch is crafted from gold or steel, while the dial is available in sandblasted rhodium-plated set with 35 diamonds or opaline silver-plated, and natural white mother-of-pearl with or without two diamond-set chatons. Overall, the new Nantucket not only evokes its early days, but also showcases its harmoniously balanced proportions.
Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
Omega recently introduced the latest Speedmaster Moonwatch that comes with the new Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861. Inspired by the fourth generation Moonwatch style – commonly referenced to as the ST 105.012 – and worn by Apollo 11 astronauts on the moon back in 1969, these space-era tributes feature the classic asymmetrical case, the step dial, the double bevel case-back, and also the famous dot over 90 (DON) and a dot diagonal to 70 on the anodised aluminium bezel ring.
Completed with eight special choices, including versions in stainless steel, 18K Sedna gold or 18K Canopus gold, this new Omega release will surely charm fans of vintage-inspired watches that are defined by the stories they tell.
Breguet Reine de Naples Coeur
The new Reine de Naples Coeur from Breguet comes with a new invention for Valentine’s Day, which still looks lovely for the rest of the year. For one, this exclusive Coeur – or Heart edition – comes with a heart-shaped minute hand that moves over a sapphire-crystal dial, which is lacquered in white for a very soft and subtle translucent effect.
Its curves are then able to expand or contract, as if by magic, as it makes its way around the elongated oval dial. Speaking of which, the rose gold of the dial flange and bezel is set with 128 diamonds. Limited to only 28 numbered pieces, it’s safe to say that this Breguet watch will truly enliven your days.
Richard Mille RM 037 White Ceramic Automatic
As the latest addition to Richard Mille women’s collection, the RM 037 White Ceramic Automatic combines white ceramic, mother-of-pearl and white gold in a gently voluptuous combination. Moreover, it also has all the technical characteristics that ensure this collection is held in high regard, beginning with its skeletonised automatic-winding in-house movement.
The pillars, which are also polished, accentuate the supreme elegance of the satin white gold case–band, while the overall effect is further heightened by the aforementioned mother-of-pearl and diamonds embellishing the dial. In many ways, the sophistication of the elegant and refined RM 037 Automatic in white ceramic makes it an astute addition to the women’s watch range.
