A case in point on how airlines adapt to changing travel habits
Flight and travel – especially the more luxurious kinds – are perhaps the hardest hit businesses during a pandemic like what we have today. While things are still a far cry from pre-covid times, people are starting to travel again – or at least people are starting to plan for travel in earnest. Hotel and resort operators have responded not only with improved safety and health measures, but also, interestingly, with various “buy now, use later” offers. Naturally, these have been well-received by would-be travellers eager to plan ahead but mindful of the uncertainty of global conditions.
Now, Qatar Airways is giving its loyal customers a similar peace-of-mind gift. The airlines loyalty programme, Privilege Club, has just rolled out a new change to its Qmiles policy, making a member’s balance valid for 36 months. This change is also meant to be an initial step to be flowed by further improvements in the future.
“At Qatar Airways, we are dedicated to provide our promised five-star service to our passengers and our Privilege Club plays an important role in this. We want to reward our most loyal customers with generosity and flexibility,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker. “As such, we have embarked on a journey of change within Privilege Club that puts our members and their needs at the forefront.”
“Privilege Club has recently undergone multiple changes and our enhanced Qmiles policy is the first major step towards perfecting our loyalty programme with many more exciting new initiatives planned in the coming months. It is a true delight to see our loyal members enjoy our programme and I am very excited for what is to come.”
Of course, onboard safety measures have also become a major priority. To this end, Qatar Airways provides Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and complimentary protective kits along with disposable face shields for passengers. More details on the airlines’ safety procedures – which also covers check-in procedures and baggage policies – can be viewed here.
