As Indonesia celebrates its independence this August, Plataran Venues & Dining has prepared two special menus that are available from August 1 – 31, 2019. To further enhance our sense of nationalism, the special menus are made with Indonesia’s national flag and culture in mind, such as Nasi Kemerdekaan and Es Merah Putih.
Prestige had the privilege to taste both menus at Plataran Dharmawangsa, which is designed as if we’re in a Rumah Joglo—a traditional house in Central Java.
Exclusively available in August, Plataran has created a mini version of Tumpeng. It is a traditional Indonesian dish that is usually made for special occasions, like moving to a new house, or celebrating birthdays. It consists of yellow rice, fried chicken with crisps, egg balado, stir-fried tempeh, fried bihun, and sambal shrimp with potatoes. The mini version tumpeng is called Nasi Kemerdekaan. Plataran’s dish is quite large to indulge it by yourself, it’s good enough to share with two persons.
Next, we tasted the Es Merah Putih. It is made of two fresh juices—soursop and strawberry. Plataran styled it in Indonesia’s national flag colors: red layer of strawberry juice that sits over the white layer of soursop juice. No need to add sugar because it sufficiently quenches your thirst—in a healthy way!
Besides two of the special menus, we also love how Plataran recreated Indonesian’s signature dishes. Our favourite is the Dendeng Batokok, which consists of extra thin crispy beef slices coated with large red chillies. It is very mouthwatering, and it is only available in Plataran Venues & Dining. Insider info: it’s President Jokowi’s favourite!
What’s more? You have not experienced the real Indonesia if you haven’t tasted Nasi Goreng Keling (black fried rice). The beauty of the Plataran’s version of Nasi Goreng is that it gives you an elevated taste of a home-cooked Nasi Goreng. Something that will remind you of your fond childhood memories. It is rich in flavours, not spicy, and it makes you forget about your carb diet!
Plataran is known for its elevated traditional Indonesian menus and homey vibes in each of its restaurant. When you pay a visit to Plataran for lunch, coffee break, or dinner in Jakarta, you will feel immediately transported to one of Indonesia’s authentic homes or a serene vibe from its luxurious traditional Java aesthetic.
Plataran Venues & Dining is available at Plataran Dharmawangsa, Plataran Menteng, Patio Venue, and Teras Dharmawangsa.
