There’s something elusively charming about Bangkok’s riverside — something about the Chao Phraya that brings to mind romantic candlelit dinners and evening soirees. Knowing this, Pruek Cruise aims to offer an innovative new way to experience the river. Set on board a three-storey teak wood yacht, expect a completely bespoke setting that can be tailored to fulfill all your needs for a perfect get-together, from exclusive celebrations to dancing the night away. With Michelin-starred fine dining and five-starred services provided by the hospitality industry’s most notable names, Pruek Cruise is hands-down Bangkok’s latest spot to dance, drink, and wine — here’s why.
With a route that takes you past Bangkok’s key landmarks — including, of course, the iconic Iconsiam — the Pruek Cruise gives you the best of the riverside’s most coveted spots. That’s not all. The three floors combined reach up to eight metres tall, making it also the highest cruise to ever exist on the Chao Phraya River, so fans of rooftop bars can still get a taste of those breathtaking views.
The Michelin-Starred Food
While the experience — especially during the year-end breezy days — of being on a yacht is most definitely the key highlight, what keeps us on-board and coming back is the impressive selection of award-winning plates. Those who are looking to book the Pruek Cruise during the day can choose to have Afternoon Tea, or opt between Thai and Western lunch sets, Come nightfall and the choices include light pre-dinner canapes, heavier cocktail canapes, or full-on dinners of either Thai or Western plates. If you’re looking to really go all the way, there are super-luxury options to choose from, including a courses by chef Fracnesco Lenzi (of Lenzi Tuscan Kitchen), chef Sujira “Aom” (of Saawaan), and chef Arnaud (of Le Normandie).
If you’re thinking of inviting everyone you know — worry not, the capacity is surprisingly impressive while still maintaining a sense of exclusivity.
The second floor space is almost entirely dedicated to restaurants, which span both air-conditioned and outdoor spaces and can sit up to ten tables. The cruise bow — which, keep in mind, comes with a delightful breeze — you can also fit a handful of lounge chairs.
Upon entering the first floor of the yacht, you’ll come across a fully equipped champagne bar, sponsored by world-renowned Piper Heidsieck — perfect for events of jovial mingling and getting the party spirit going.
While you’ve got your glass of bubbly in hand, be sure to walk over to the outdoor zone, with large sofas overlooking the surrounding river — one of the best spots to revel in the overall experience, and also get that customary social media snap.
The open-air rooftop floor comes with five sets of lounge chairs and serves as the ideal spot to place a live band. While the stairs do lean towards the narrower side — we don’t exactly recommend going up and down too often once you’ve had a couple of drinks — you should still most definitely make it a point to head to the very top.
Surrounded by touches of colour and a mini flower garden, prepare to be blown away by breezy views and a sense of tranquility you can rarely find elsewhere but by the river.
