Fairmont is bringing a taste of London to Jakarta, in collaboration with legendary hotel The Savoy. Throughout the week (August 24 – 27), guests will be treated to the best of British cuisine and lifestyle in a series of events at “When Jakarta Meets London – Bringing the Heritage of The Savoy to the City”.
Guest chefs and mixologists from The Savoy will be flown in to Fairmont Jakarta for the special ocassion. The programme features five key events: afternoon tea in Peacock Lounge, party in K22 Bar, bar takeover in Barong Bar, gastronomic experience in View Restaurant & Bar, as well as Sunday brunch in Spectrum.
The Savoy, a Fairmont-managed property, was once the Savoy Palace in 1246. On 6 August 1889, The Savoy opened, offering luxury accommodations for tourists who came to London to see the Savoy Operas. In 2007, it underwent a complete restoration that costs around £220 million.
Afternoon Tea at Peacock Lounge
Throughout the event period, Peacock Lounge will serve classic British afternoon tea featuring recipes from the institutional Thames Foyer at The Savoy.
Highlights from the world-famour high tea include finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream & jam and a mouth-watering selection of seasonal cakes and pastries like the Battenberg cake and Strawberry Victoria sponge.
The special afternoon tea will be prepared by Pastry Chef Luc Bigeard from The Savoy. The British Afternoon Tea is available from August 24 to September 10, from 1 to 5 PM at IDR 588,000++/set.
Bond Girl Night at K22 Bar
Continuing the Ladies Night tradition at K22 bar, this Thursday night will see a Bond Girl Night, a James Bond-themed party in search of the best dressed lady who will be flown to London by The Savoy.
Guests will be entertained by a live performance of James Bond theme songs, while enjoying free-flow cocktails created by The Savoy’s award-winning mixologist, Witek Wojaczek, from the legendary Beaufort Bar at the Savoy. The Bond Girl Night starts at 7PM, at IDR 288.000++/person.
Bar Takeover at Barong Bar
During the Bar Takeover at Barong Bar, aside from enjoying the free-flow signature cocktails of Beaufort Bar, guests will be pampered with red carpet treatment, jazz singer performance and the excitement on having cigar rollers. The lucky winner of the night will enjoy the prize of a weekend ride on a Jaguar including the chauffer.
Free-flow cocktails at Barong Bar will be available on August 25 at 8 to 11 PM at 788.000++/person.
Exquisite British Gourmet Dinner at View Restaurant & Bar
On August 26 and 27, View Restaurant & Bar will present an Exquisite British Gourmet Dinner, featuring the Executive Sous Chef from The Savoy, Francisco Hernandez. The chef specialises in modern British-European cuisine.
Chef Francisco will collaborate with VIEW’s own Chef de Cuisine, Hans Christian, who is passionate in conveying a progressive take on food the he grew up with by merging European technique, and modern presentation.
The 5-course wine pairing dinner will also mark the presence of the British Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Moazzam Malik on August 26. The dinner set is available at IDR 1,788,000++/person.
Royal Sunday Brunch at Spectrum
On August 27, Executive Chef Edi Pancamala will collaborate with Chef Francisco and Chef Luc from The Savoy in preparing an extensive spread of British buffet brunch.
The special British menu will include mouth-watering dishes such as Hot Smoked Trout with Horseradish, Poached Scottish Lobster, “The Savoy” Prawn and Brown Shrimp Cocktail, Roasted Beef or Lamb with Traditional Yorkshire Pudding, various selections of Fish and Chips, and Buttermilk Pancakes.
The menu highlight will also include the famous Arnold Bennett Omelette. Arnold Bennett Omelette was created at the Savoy hotel in the 1920s and named after the writer and critic Arnold Bennett. The chefs perfected it to his taste while he was staying at the hotel, writing a novel. This omelette traditional consists as an open omelette with bitten eggs, smoked haddock, gruyere cheese and hollandaise sauce. The brunch will be available at IDR788,000++/ person.
